Overview

This project will enable readers of the Enriched Thinking® Library to listen to articles as professionally narrated audio. Audio versions will be automatically generated when articles are published, with full support for multilingual content – articles can be offered in their original language plus additional languages.

The solution opens a new distribution channel for Scotia Wealth Management's thought leadership, serving commuters, visually impaired readers, and those who prefer audio consumption.

Accessibility Compliance – By providing content as audio with accessible player controls (compatible with screen readers), this initiative supports AODA compliance and positions Scotia Wealth Management ahead of potential future accessibility mandates.

Advisor Distribution – Through BroadSword® content distribution, audio-enabled articles can be automatically disseminated to advisor branch sites, extending reach without additional manual effort.

Solution Overview

We will implement an automated audio generation system integrated with the Enriched Thinking® Library. When a new article is published and tagged for audio generation, the system will:

  1. Extract and sanitize article content (removing code, formatting, sidebars, and promotional elements)
  2. Detect the source language
  3. Generate natural-sounding narration using AI voice technology
  4. Optionally generate audio in accompanying languages
  5. Host the audio on a reliable content delivery network
  6. Embed an audio player directly on the article page

Chapter markers derived from article headings allow listeners to navigate directly to specific sections.

Content Tagging – Articles can be assigned a "TTS" category to control which content receives audio generation. This is particularly helpful for numerical reports (tax planning cutoffs, market data) where audio narration would not provide a good listener experience.

Voice Options – We can use stock AI voices (male or female) or train custom voices based on recordings that are on-brand for Scotia Wealth Management. Custom voice training is available at additional cost.
